Edendale Operational Support

The Edendale Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1955. In 1996 the brigade became a Medical First Response station, to provide emergency medical support to the local community until an ambulance can arrive from further afield.
The brigade currently operates two appliances: Edendale 411 (an Iveco Type 1 pump), and Edendale 4133 (Hyundai H1 van) which operates as the brigade's medical response unit. Edendale annually attends approximately 175 calls per year, with about 80% of these being medical responses (including MVA response for medical support). Edendale's medical response turnout area includes the townships of Edendale, Wyndham and surrounding districts.
In 2001 the brigade took on its first two Operational Support personnel (one of which still serves today), initially recruited to provide fireground support at any incident and to be medical first responders (once trained). Today the brigade has 24 operational members, including three Operational Support personnel. Edendale's Operational Support personnel are trained to assist at emergency incidents (within appropriate policies and procedures) and once trained, serve as medical first responders.
