Remutaka Operational Support

The Remukata Operational Support Unit (formally known as Hutt Wairarapa Operational Support Unit and Fire Support and Fire Police) was established in 1955. The Unit has been housed at various locations throughout the years including Lower Hutt, Petone, Stokes Valley Rimutaka Fire Stations. The Unit moved to its current location on the opening of the new Remutaka Fire Station in 2019 which is home to Career, Rural and Operational Support resources.
Remutaka Operational Support Unit provides support to both Career and Volunteer Fire Brigades in the Hutt District, Region 3 - Wellington. An area with a population of around 140,000, comprising all manner of terrain and with commercial, industrial and residential centers, our unit of members supports FENZ when called upon, responding from Remutaka Fire Station in Upper Hutt or direct to the scene as required.
